Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
What rights you have over your data
You may request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. The admins try to work with users to delete certain posts or usernames that may, on second thought, share too much information (TMI). This is up to the admin, and the admin’s decision is final.
Where we send your data
Visitor email addresses may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Your data is never sold to third parties — end of the story. In fact, this website has a tenuous relationship with Big Data (i.e. Google). We try to avoid using any of their services that can track users across websites.

How we protect your data
We take your privacy to the nth degree. Your information is primarily stored in a “black box.” Your password is encrypted in a manner that can’t be decrypted. We also have a lot of security measures in place to protect our users, websites, and web servers.

We will attempt to notify anyone whose information has been leaked or hacked from our servers via email. Users should use a password manager that tracks and alerts to such breaches like StickyPassword.
What third parties we receive data from
We use an external database to help us filter out trolls and bots that is maintained by Invision Community Forum.
What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data
Automatic decisions are made when one attempts to create a new account. Your IP address and/or email address may be checked against knows spammers. A match could result in the rejection of you account creation.

This website requires cookies to operate. We do not knowingly allow third-party cookies. Users wishing to have more control over their privacy should check out these browsers: Brave Browser [for mobile] (similar to Chrome) or Firefox [for desktop].
TL;DR
At CC.com we do not sell any of our users’ data. All cookies we use are necessary to make the website work. KC recommends a privacy-focused browser like Brave or Firefox (nightly edition). Also, everyone should be using a password manager so that each website you have an account with can have a unique and strong password. I recommend Bitwarden because it works beautifully across devices and is under constant improvement.
